(HL-A) antigens in adult coeliac disease

چکیده
In a study of histocompatibility antigens in adult coeliac disease the HL-A phenotypes have been determined in 117 patients and 149 of their first-degree relatives, of whom 94 had had a jejunal biopsy performed. There was an increased frequency ofthe HL-A 8 antigen in the patients and their relatives. Family studies showed no irregularity in the inheritance of both this antigen and the HL-A 1 and 8 haplotype.

متن کاملDR and non-DR Ia allotypes are associated with susceptibility to coeliac disease.
We have studied the frequency of HLA-DR, -MT, and -MB antigens in adult patients with coeliac disease and in a group of healthy controls, evaluating the strength of the observed associations by measuring the aetiologic fractions. Among the antigens significantly associated with coeliac disease, MB2 (DQw2) showed an aetiologic fraction higher than those of DR3 and DR7. Our results suggest that M...
متن کاملCoeliac disease and dermatitis herpetiformis: further studies of their relationship.
Using diagnostic criteria which are currently accepted as most reliable we have found that 19% (9/47) of patients with dermatitis herpetiformis (DH) have no evidence of coeliac disease. The incidence of HL-A8 in the DH patients was 78%, which is considerably greater than that in healthy controls and no different from that reported in coeliac disease. Furthermore, the incidence of HL-A8 was just...
متن کاملCoeliac Disease With Rheumatoid Arthritis: An Unusual Association
Coeliac disease has a significant association with many autoimmune disorders. It shares many common genetic and immunological features with other autoimmune diseases. Gluten, a gut-derived antigen, is the driver of the autoimmunity seen in coeliac disease. The altered intestinal permeability found in coeliac patients, coupled with a genetic predisposition and altered immunological response, may...

The clinical characteristics of this syndrome consist of dermatological manifestations, including hyperpigmented, hypertrichotic, and indurated patches and plaques. It affects various systems by causing heart anomalies, hepatosplenomegaly, hy...
